POCONO, Pa. - The Pocono Snow Soccer Club is proud to announce the appointment of Derek Arneaud to the position of General Manager, former General Manager Pat Mullally has announced.

“I am excited to have Derek as our new General Manager,” mentioned Mullally, “as he can give us some much needed energy and positive direction.” The former Pocono Snow General Manager, who will look to focus more time on his recently purchased Clubhouse Café restaurant in Stroudsburg, will be staying on as team President.

"My main goal is to serve the players, community, and the neighboring soccer communities, that are ready to move in the direction of having a highly competitive women and men’s soccer team in the Pocono area.” noted new Snow General Manager, Derek Arneaud. “I will do everything in my power to continue seeking the support from all of the local sporting clubs in our immediate area; the Pocono Snow organization understands the importance of this.”

The Snow’s new General Manager brings with him a wealth of soccer experience – ranging from coaching at the collegiate level to playing for the United States national team.

As one of the few coaches to hold a United States Soccer Federation “A” Coaching License, Arneaud was formerly the East Stroudsburg University women’s soccer team’s head coach for 12 years, leading the Lady Warriors to a 112-104-15 record from 1995 to 2006 and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship in 1997. He was also an assistant men’s soccer coach from 1991-1994 at East Stroudsburg University, helping to lead the men’s team to a 60-26-4 record and three PSAC championships.

Prior to coaching at ESU, he was the head boys’ soccer coach at Notre Dame High School in East Stroudsburg from 1988-1990, where he lead the “Spartans” to two District titles and a three-year record of 46-11-2. Arneaud still is employed as a Health and Physical Education instructor at Notre Dame.

As a player, Arneaud played for East Stroudsburg University in the mid 1980s, earning NCAA All-Mid Atlantic second team honors as a sophomore. More recently, he was awarded the 2006 Yeagley Award for Exceptional Personal Achievement (as a former collegiate soccer player). Today, Arneaud suits up for the United States Paralympic soccer team, an opportunity that has allowed him to travel the world.

On the business end, Arneaud is currently the owner, operator and instructor of the “Derek Arneaud Driving School,” located in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. He has close to 20 years experience in the business of driver instruction.

The Pocono Snow will soon be having tryouts for their 2010 team, whose season will most likely begin in May. More information on tryouts, and the major announcement of a new head coach for the Pocono Snow will come in the near future.
